This was a little trestle dining table started in the summer of 2017, then put on hold for a while because of Hurricane Harvey, then finished...well, sometime after Harvey, I guess. Anyway, I had some spectacular curly cherry I was excited to use for the table; the downside of which was that the wood itself apparently drinks up finish like a fish. After a year or so a few dry spots had shown up on the tabletop, and the clients very graciously asked if I wouldn’t mind coming over to have a look at it. (They even offered me lunch!) A fresh coat of Osmo, and we were back in business. I try to build things that will never require any sort of maintenance (at least in our lifetime), but I am glad to take care of pieces that are out there in the world being used and enjoyed (that’s why I make them!), and I am happy to know that this table went to a lovely home. It’s nice to have nice clients.
