A few months ago I was asked, separately, by two old friends who were coming up on their fifth anniversary to make something for their significant other. (Five years being the “Wood” anniversary, of course.) Julie was excited about some cuff links for Jeremy, and Jeremy was excited about a tiny box for Julie. The best part was that they were both planning on this being a big surprise, and I got to pretend I was a secret agent.
Both the box and the cufflinks came from the same tiny piece of rosewood, along with gaboon ebony and sterling silver. The cufflinks were made by the outstanding Alan Cable. What a great commission.
